5 REVIEW AND PROSPECT ON CONSTRUCTION OF PASSENGER STATION IN OUR COUNTRY
WANG Cexun
This pa per review s the g rowing o f the railw ay passeng er f low and the existing problems of the passeng er t ra nspo rt facilities. Af ter the establi shment of the Peo ple 's Republic of China, acco rding to th e actual situa tion of the rai lway and our count ry , steps hav e been taken to upg rade and renew the existing passeng er eg uipments a nd to further build up new passenger stations in some main point s. Af ter a long practical o peratio n, the abov e mentioned principles a re v ery beneficial and useful in the const ruction o f the passenger stations. In recent 10 y ea rs, the const ruction of other t ranspo rt faci li ties dev elo ps rapidly , especially the construction o f highw ay i s mo re rapidly than railw ay. Pro spect o f the future, the railway must speed up the step of dev eloment , and renov ation the co nst ructio n of the railw ay must meet the so cial dev elo pment and the needs of the people.

13 DISSECT ON SCHEMES OF RAILWAYS TOWARD XIZANG
JIAGN Hong
Based o n the analyses o n di fferent schemes fo r const ructing railw ays tow ard Xi zang sug gested and w rit ten by ex pert s publi shed in sev eral rai lw ay periodicals i ssued in recent y ears. a comprehensiv e analy sis has been put fo rwa rd in this paper. It i s sugg ested that the const ruction o f railw ays tow ard Xi zang should be accomplished wi thin tw o const ruction stag es. The main target of the fi rst stag e w ill be the const ruction of an impo rtant th ro ug h t ruck line by combining the Chua n-Zang Rai lway wi th the Hu-Yu Railw ay so as to enlarg ethe scope of the Chinese rai lway netw o rk towa rd the w est mo re widely ( i. e. the Shanghai- Lasa Railway ) . The Chuan-Zang Raiway may adopt the comprehensive Chuanzang-Ganza ng-Dianza ng shceme so as to economize the inv estment , to speed up the const ruction a nd to o rgani ze the w orkers more co nvenient ly. The main target of the second stag e w ill be aimed atto fill up the gaps in rai lway netw ork of the West China, espcially fo r co nnecting Xi zang w ith Qinghai and Xinjiang.

21 PLANE SURVEY AND VERTICAL CONTROL OF HIGH-SPEED RAILWAY
LU Yongchen
The t rain o perating speed in high-speed rai lway is usually ov er 200 km /h. Whi le raising speed o n ex isting rai lway s in China , the Jing-Hu High-Speed Railw ay wi ll be const ructed wi th running speed o f 250km /h and having a total leng th of 1307m. The technica l requirements for high-speed railway s a re much higher tha n that fo r o rdina ry rai lw ays. In the surv eying w o rks for the high-speed railw ays, the plane survey and the v ertical cont rol are of the fi rst impo rta nce for successful co nstructio n of a high-speed rai lwa y. The paper infers and demonst rates an accuracy issue for plane surv ey and v ertical co nt rol o f hig h-speed railw ay , fo r the purpo se of o ffering a theoretical basis for surv ey, desig n, const ruction and maintenance of o ur na tional high-speed railw ay.

29 ON THE SELECTION OF HAUL TYPE FOR BEIJING-SHANGHAI HIGH-SPEED RAILWYA
ZHAN Zhenyan
There are two haul types o f high speed rai lw ay in the w orld, i. e. the electrified t ractio n based o n w heel-rai l rela tion a nd the Mag lev Sy stem based o n mag netic levi tation technolgy. The May lev System has tw o mode, i. e. the superco nductio ng suspensio n system based o n elect rody namic repulsion used in Japa n and the electromagnetic suspension system based on elect ro dy namic at tractio n used in Germa ny. Thi s paper i llust rates the adva ntag e and applicatio n area of the Maglev System and describes emphatically the Mag lev Test Track buil t at Emsla nd in Germany and the planned Berlin-Hambury Maglev Railw ay which w ill be accomplished in 2005. The autho r ex plains also tha t a t present i t is not suitable to adopt this haul type on Bei jing-Sha nghai high speed rai lw ay.

33 BRIDGE ON THE HIGH-SPEED RAILWAY
WU Chengsan
The paper introduces the bridges bui lt on the high-speed railw ays in Germa ny. The main specialities o f these bridges are high rigidi ty , easy to be inspected and repai red, as w ell a s the applica tion o f UIC 71 standard loading. According to ty pes of the bridg e, the paper ex po unds the co ntents of the desig n for bridg es wi th prest ressed co ncrete gi rders, steel gi rders and composi te beams. The common essential among these bridg es is to limit their def lections wi thin certain v alue. Besides, the di fferent cross-sectio n of these bridg es a re proposed. They are valuable as reference fo r the design o f the bridg es o n high-speed railw ay in China. The autho r co nsiders tha t the U IC sta nda rd loading i s mo re reaso nable, a nd sug gests o nce more tha t w e should apply the UIC 71 standard loading instead of the exi sting China railw ay standard liv e loading.

101 A STUDY ON THE WATER PREVENTION FOR WEATHERED CRUST-SUBGRADE SLOPES
XU Zemin
The paper pro poses tha t the sand clay layer cov ering on w ea thered crust-subg rade slopes may be t ransfo rmed to a wa terproof barrier by way o f chemical manipulation to prevent w ater permeating into slope bodies, and studies the problem taking some slope on Cheng yu railw ay. The result s indicates that it may reduce effectiv ely the permeability of the sand clay to g ro ut it wi th Na2 CO3 so lution o r mix i t w ith Na2CO3 pow der and the disposa l w ay i s simple and inex pensiv e. The w ater preventio n mechanism is fo r Na2 CO3 solutio n to t ransform Ca-mo ntmo rlloni tes into Na-mo ntmo rllo ni tes. Mixing the sand clay w ith lime and Na2 CO3 powder may not only reduce it s permeabi li ty but also increase it s st reng th remarkably and in v iew o f the complex ity of the disposal process, the scheme is fi t fo r the t reatments o f rosdbed sof t soils.
