THINKING ON CONSTRUCTION OF EXPRESS RAILWAY LINE BETWEEN SICHUAN AND CHONGQING
CHEN Hong-nian
The plan of future transport should be worked out for Sichuan and Chongqing based on the construction of existing transport facilities in order to give their important play to develop-the-west strategy and facilitates sustainable and healthy development of economy, because Sichuan and Chongqing should be planned as soon as possible and constructed at right time. Only after the express railway line is completed, can it meet the needs of great passenger traffic volume between Sichuan and Chongqing and reduce the travel time by convenient transport means.

EFFECT OF HIGH EMBANKMENT ON THE THERMAL REGIME OF UNDERLYING PERMAFROST IN QING-ZANG RAILWAY
SHENC Yu, MA Wei, WEN Zhi
Based on observed data of two monitoring sections in Beiluhe test site of Qing-Zang Railway, The characteristics of underlying ground thermal regime after constructing high embankment arc analyzed. Results indicated that permafrost table was raised, the underlying ground temperature increased after constructing embankment. The rising of permafrost table should be attributed to an obvious decrease in fluctuation of temperature at the depth of permafrost table due to the thermal resistance effect of high embankment. Constructing high embankment may cause considerable difference in thermal regime between shade slope and sunshine slope of embankment. The sunshine slope is the most violent heat-absorb surface, while the shade slope presents as a heat-discharge surface. As a result, the thawing extent of underlying permafrost may differ.

ANALYSIS ON GROUND TEMPERATURE CHANGES OF THE SOILS UNDER DUCT-VENTILATION EMBANKMENT OF QINGHAI-TIBET RAILWAY
NIU Fu-jun, MA Wei, LAI Yuan-ming
Based on two year's data of ground temperature monitored at Beiluhe section of the Qinghai-Tibet Railway, where field-testing embankment was constructed, the engineering effect of duct-ventilation embankment is discussed through analyzing ground temperature changes. Results indicate that duct-ventilation embankment is available to protect the underlying permafrost and even can extend it. It is also Shawn that it is better to bury ducts near the initial ground surface, so that the engineering effect of ventilation embankment can be advanced.

REMOTE SENSING GEOLOGY WORKS OF EASTWARD RAILWAY PASSAGES FOR CHUAN-YU RAILWAY
ZHUO Bao-xi
As an applied article, it introduces the application of remote sensing to scheme comparison of three railway routes leading to cast of ChongQing. Research on the background carried on by using satellite images and engineering geology interpretation by combining satellite images with aerial remote sensing images are described in particular. The situations of three routes, such as rock property, fault structure, unfavorable geology and karst, are primarily ascertained by remote sensing interpretation, which provides objective comprehensive evaluation of geological conditions for scheme comparison. Finally, geological conditions arc comprehensively analyzed and evaluated, on the basis of regional geological tectonic settings, unfavorable geology and major engineering geological problems.

EFFECTS OF BALLASTS ON TEMPERATURE OF EMBANKMENT IN PERMAFROST REGION
SUN Zhi-zhong, MA Wei
The ballast embankment is one of the positive measures of protecting frozen soils in construction of Qinghai-Tibet railway. Based on data in field, this paper analyzed change of ground temperature under the ballast with two kinds of diameters. In warm season, the action of heat-shield on the ballast with diameters of 5-8 cm is better than that with diameters of 40-50 cm. In cold season, the action of convection is stronger than that with diameters of 5-8 cm. Distribution of ground temperature under the ballast between shade slope and sunshine slope of embankment is asymmetrical, which the ground temperature in sunshine slope is higher than that in shade slope.

AN INVERSE STATISTICAL MODEL FOR GROUNDWATER AGE IN DABASGAN TUNNEL AREA
LIU Dan, HE Peng-xu, LI Qi-bin
The paper deals with the principle and method of an Inverse Statistical Model (ISM) for groundwater age, which is used to estimate at groundwater age in Dabashan Tunnel area. The calculation shows that the mean age in the area varies from 45 to 75 year, the longer in the south slope than the North Slope, indicating the hydraulic conductivity of the latter over the former on average. The ISM not only involves hydrodynamic dispersion of groundwater occurred commonly in fractured bedrock medium, but also makes the calculation of groundwater age simple compared with the traditional isotope mathematic model, so that it is of practice value.

THE APPLICATION OF PLASTIC DRAINAGE BOARD IN THE FOUNDATION CONSOLIDATION OF MOTORWAY EMBANKMENT
ZHOU Dong-sheng
It is a new task of the motorway embankment foundation consolidation. At first, the construction sea area characteristic of the southeast littoral province was summarized. The conclusion was drawn that it was an effective method to driving the plastic drainage board in this geology condition. Driving the plastic drainage board could form the vertical drainage channel, accelerate the vent Of hole water and the concretion of clay, reduce the sedimentation after construction, enhance the load-bearing ability of the foundation. Based on describing the foundation consolidation mechanism of plastic drainage board, the embankment structure shape which should be used at the motorway embankment consolidating by plastic drainage board was introduced; along with the construction techniques and flow of plastic drainage board were recommended. Its Advantage and disadvantage were discussed at last.
