SPECIALITIES OF HIGH SPEED RAILWAY NETWORKS IN CHINA AND THE SELECTION OF THEIR TECHNICAL SCHEMES
LI Hong, Yu Qian-feng
Being different from Europe and Japan, the high speed railway network in China consists of the dedicated passenger traffic railway lines after the separation of passenger traffic from freight traffic in the busy trunk railway lines. Due to its smaller operation area, a rapid railway with combined running of passenger and freight trains is required. The operation models of the high speed railway in China are the mixing running of high-speed and medium-speed trains, passenger and freight trains running in the same railway line, and the high-speed trains using the same stations with the common trains. As if the maglev technology will be used for the Jing-Hu high speed railway, the vast resources of existing railway cannot be utilized. Not only the investment will increase, but also will give passengers extremely inconvenience.

ANALYSIS ON DEFECTS OF BRIDGE STRUCTURE IN ENGINEERING PRACTICES
LU Lan-ping, ZHANG You-zhi
The inner wall of bridge abutment creates partial defects during drilling holes. It is a macroscopic crack problem having clear geometric boundary. Based on the analyses of stress, strain and displacement along the whole boundary and at the front of cracks, the extension of cracks and the safety of structure are forecasted. During analyses, the internal defects distributed in materials are evolved and developed into macroscopic cracks having determinate geometric dimensions, and the statics properties under different applied loads before and after drilling holes in bridge abutment are researched. By using finite clement method, the elasticity analysis has been put forward on plane stress for abutment wall after drilling holes. The partial defects along the boundary of holes are analyzed also according to the scattered crack model. Through the discussions on the developed length and width of the cracks, the safety of bridge abutment after technical reform may be determined.

COMPREHENSIVE CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE OF TUNNEL IN SOFT SOIL
ZHANG Huan-cheng, YANG Shao-hong
Combined with engineering example, the construction practice of tunneling is introduced for the tunnel whose entrance stands at harmful geologic conditions of shallow-cover and groove with soft soil. In the course of construction, the techniques were adopted interactively, such as the pre-anchor pile, entrance gate joined with anchor pile, steel tube pile, anchor-tube injected with slurry, continuous underground wall of vertical spraying pile super fore-canula injected with slurry, tubular shed arranged closely, timbering with steel annularity arch, hanging meshwork and anchor bolt spraying, with temporary ob-arch, foresetting ob-arch, built by concrete following closely, floor spraying pile in tunnel done in time and so on. It triumphantly resolved the thorny problems about the entrance of tunnel full floating on soft soil to start digging, excavate, support, build with concrete, etc. For heavy rain tempestuous crack of the temporary shoring, the tracking measure and the construction treatment arc introduced. It can be used for reference to design and construct tunnel under harmful geologic conditions.

TREATMENT ON LARGE-SCALE LANDSLIDE FOR LONG-SPAN HIGHWAY TUNNEL
ZHANG Chong-dong
The schemes for treating the large-scale landslide in the long-span tunnel lay on the treatment of subsided pit at first. The side slopes of subsided pit are stabilized by grouting concrete reinforced with meshwork. Then, by deep-hole grouting several times, the funnel-typed porous soil during subsidence may be strengthened and stabilized. During construction inside of the tunnel, the advance auxiliary tunneling method with small ducts was used through the twin-side headings for excavation. The primary supports should be put forward after excavation immediately, and constructing the secondary lining immediately behind the primary supports. The practices show that the above schemes are scientific.
